I’m wanting to announce– in very informal way– a project that’s been brewing in the back of my mind for a long while.
I’ve been making some headway on it recently and it’s gotten me excited enough to make a blog post.
As the title suggests it will thematically surround grocery stores which has always been the setting that I wanted to have in whatever life this project would have. I’m calling it a game, but whether it turns into a full-fledged game we’ll see where it all goes.

The great thing about this project is I’m going to be skill building and making it a portfolio piece that can showcase my wide skillset. One thing that I’ll be focusing on in this one will be to workout my sound design chops.
The other great thing about this project is that other than showcasing my stronger suits, I’ve been building new skills and fortifying some weaker ones. I’ve been re-learning programs that I haven’t touched in a while which has been fruitful. Some of it even came back to me like riding a bike.
I don’t know why, but 3D character modeling and animation has always freaked me out the most despite it being a logical step over from some of my skillsets. I think the reason that I felt that way was because I know what good 3D/animation looks like and know people who were well versed in it, so there was this high bar that I had for myself. However, I finally decided to dive back into it, have fun, and just learn; only worry about making something that gets the idea across, not something super polished. And that is where my happy place is. In this case: morph targets.
